In-Clinic Pet Services
At Riverside Animal Clinic & Holistic Center, we understand how difficult it is to say goodbye to our furry friends. That’s why we offer compassionate and supportive euthanasia services for your beloved companions during this tender time. Whether you prefer the comfort of your home or the clinic setting, we provide options so you can choose what best suits your needs and preferences. Our caring approach embodies our commitment to supporting pet owners with empathy and understanding through every stage of their pets’ lives.
Our team uses a quiet, calm, and large space. The room for euthanasia procedures is located near the exit door for your convenience post-treatment. You may bring as many family members as you feel comforted by to your pet’s service.
Your appointment will be at the end of the day or the end of clinic services for the morning. We find those times work best so we can give you our undivided attention. Please keep in mind that the veterinary schedule will not always be on time since we do see urgent care appointments and emergencies within our daily schedule. If you feel anxious about waiting, please call our office before your pet’s planned appointment to be certain the team is running on time.
Order of Services
The appointment begins with the required paperwork and payment so you may leave directly from your pet’s service. We find this allows you to make clear decisions about your wishes for your pet. You may have specific wishes for your pet’s service or want to consider offerings for body care. Our experienced team will walk you through the process of deciding on cremation, urns, and other offerings from our veterinary partner, All Paws Pet Cremation. You may even discuss these factors with our team before your visit. Here is a chronological order of events for this appointment:
- Park at our Waukegan Street entrance and enter through the door closest to the flag.
- Check-in at our front desk or call us from the car to keep it more private. Go over all necessary documents and discussions, sign paperwork and pay for your pet’s service.
- Check into your room. Please bring any comfort items for your pet and yourself. This may include blankets, toys, or food. Our team is happy to assist you with setup. We offer a floor blanket, a cushioned mat for your pet, and blankets or bolsters if needed.
- Our veterinarian will speak with you about your wishes for your pet and examine your pet. He will then administer a light sedation for your pet via an injection.
- Your pet will be taken to our treatment area with ideal lighting to place a catheter for the service. Please don’t worry. Our team loves animals and always treats each pet with respect and love.
- Your pet will return to the room where you will be given as much time as you need to say your final goodbyes.
- Just let us know when you’re ready and Dr. Carlson will be there with you as the final process of your pet’s service is completed.
- You may leave out the side door on Waukegan Street. Since euthanasia appointments are our last appointments of the morning or end of the day, the clinic will likely be quiet during this time.
Your visit also includes the following:
An ink pawprint and Rainbow Bridge card provided by our loving technicians and a lock of hair for you to keep that will be mailed to your home.
Choices of urns and other funerary goods as sold and fulfilled by All Paws Pet Care,
Home Euthanasia Services
Our team offers home euthanasia services to Riverside Animal Clinic & Holistic Center active clients who have been seen in the past year. We apologize for not offering euthanasia services to those outside our current list of active clients. Euthanasia is a very stressful part of a veterinarian’s job. At this time, Dr. Carlson is only comfortable working with longtime clients and patients with whom he has enjoyed a long relationship. He feels he must relieve his patient’s suffering with compassion and focus on each family’s journey through pet loss individually.
Order of Events for Home Euthanasia
